ABOUT MISHKAN Z'MIRAH
House of Jewish Music

Mishkan Z'mirah House of Jewish Music is the culmination of many years of writing and sketching Jewish music, both for the synagoue, for performance venues and for the sacred task of bringing new Jewish expression into the world. Some of the music dates from early on, such as the setting of Bialik's L'vadi and some pieces are more recent, for instance, Uva L'tziyon Goel which had it's premeiere at the Cantor's Assembly Convention in Toronto. Many of the pieces were written recently and reflect a journey through liturgical text, sometimes with pieces being written around the time of the religious events that they are used for. The collection numbers 150 pieces and is an offering in the spirit of the great book of Psalms, which also number 150. The last of the collection is a setting of Psalm 150 itself.
